Posted Image Licenses
The majority of my photographs are released with one of two licenses, either Creative Commons or All Rights Reserved. The specific license will be listed both on the image’s webpage here on my site, as well as in the file’s EXIF data. In the absence of any visible license, all work is Copyright John Vanderbeck, All Rights Reserved effective the date the image was taken or posted, whichever is earlier.
Images released under the Creative Commons license can be used for non-commercial purposes without contacting me as long as proper attribution is given. Image should be attributed to “John Vanderbeck” and if possible in the medium used, a link to www.johnvanderbeck.com provided. While prior approval is not needed, I would love to hear from you about where you are using it if you want to share, just use the contact form below.
For commercial use of any images, or for non-commercial use of All Rights Reserved images, please use the contact form below to reach out to me to obtain permission.
Please Note Creative Commons Details
Please note the specific details of each image license as listed on the image’s webpage or EXIF data. Some of my images do allow remix or derivative use, also known as “Share Alike” (CC-BY-NC-SA) as long as you maintain the same license on the new work. However other images do not allow this (CC-BY-NC-ND) meaning no derivatives or adaptations are allowed.
Obtaining a Different License

Charities & Non-Profits
If you are looking to use any of my images for a charity or non-profit, you have my permission to do so and do not need to receive permission ahead of time. I would love to know where it is being used though, so if you could take the time to drop me a note I would be most grateful.
Small Businesses, Bloggers, YouTubers, Influencers
Please reach out to me using the contact form below to discuss non-exclusive rights to use any images. In most cases I will permit the use either free of charge or with only a small license fee.
Other Commercial Use
For all other commercial uses, please reach out to me using the contact form below to discuss obtaining non-exclusive rights to use an image. License fees will vary depending on the image requested and the intended use case.
